Covid-19 Emergency Appeal
Dear Theresa Living Center Community,
We write to update you that while our communities suffer through the spread of COVID-19, Theresa Living Center currently serves 16 at-risk individuals in our residential transitional housing program and 30 single-parent families in our scattered sites program.
Maintaining a safe, comfortable home has never been more important. The individuals and families we serve today have already felt the harmful effects of this pandemic in ways that increase the likelihood of family instability: school closures, employment slowdown or discontinuance, transportation limitations, and social contact restriction.
In response, TLC has taken decisive action to address these challenges:
1. Paying the full rent due for our participating families. TLC provides cash support to partially cover rent for 30 families. For April and May, TLC will increase our support amounts to cover the full amount of rent due for these families.
2. Waiving all rent amounts for our in-house clients. TLC currently provides and manages living space for 16 women. Through May, TLC will waive all rent that we normally collect from these clients while they continue living at our residential location.
3. Giving an additional pay stipend Theresa Living Center staff. TLC employs dedicated part-time staff who turn financial support for our mission into life-altering results for our clients. Simply put, without our staff TLC would cease supporting each and every one of our 16 residential clients. TLC is always open—and our paid staff cover shifts 24 hours-a-day to maintain quality critical services without any interruption in support of our clients. As we ask more of the staff during this time, a short-term stipend will provide needed and well-deserved relief and certainty for these critical staff members.
Together, these actions will provide immeasurable comfort to our individuals and families who will know that no matter what happens in the near future, they have a home. To meet these needs and continue providing for our clients, TLC requires $30,000 in emergency funding.
We hope that you will join us in meeting these challenges head-on by making a financial donation to TLC by one of the means listed below. 100% of your donation goes directly to supporting our clients and continuing to help women and single-parent families move from homelessness to stability and self-sufficiency.
With our thanks and blessings to you,
Lucy Zanders, Executive Director
Dennis Williams, Chair, Board of Directors
